"electro-magnetic waves of radio frequencies which may be "used for wireless telegraphy, or cause or permit such

waves to be radiated, so as injuriously to affect the

"working of any authorised wireless telegraph station "or apparatus."

At the present time the Postmaster General has no power of compulsion to ensure the fitting of remedial devices in cases of interference and he is therefore obliged to rely on

persuasion which is not always effective.

With the increased

use of electricity in this country electrical interference has assumed considerable dimensions and it is possible that further

legislation will be necessary in the near future. In the

meantime a Committee of the Institution of Electrical Engineers

is considering all types of electrical interference, their

causes and cures. The Committee is composed of representatives of all the interests concerned, including the Post Office and the British Broadcasting Corporation, and it is hoped that a unanimous report will be presented in a few months time. When

the report is available, the need for fresh legislation will be

considered.
